Start with what hurts. Understand why. Then decide on care.

Austin Chiropractic Care is a chiropractic and wellness practice combining chiropractic treatment, neurologic rehabilitation, functional nutrition and laser therapy. Every plan starts with an evaluation and an honest answer about whether we can help.

How care actually works here

01

Evaluation

History, orthopedic and neurologic testing, and movement assessment to find what is driving the symptom.

02

Explanation

A plain-language account of what was found, what it likely means, and what it does not mean.

03

Care plan

A defined plan with the specific tools chosen for your findings, plus what you do between visits.

04

Reassessment

Objective re-testing on a schedule. If it is not working, the plan changes or you get referred.

Common reasons Austin patients call

Back PainMost back pain is mechanical: it changes with position, load and time of day. An evaluation identifies which structures are irritable and what is driving the pattern.SciaticaSciatica describes symptoms along the sciatic nerve distribution. It is a description, not a diagnosis — the value of an evaluation is identifying where the irritation is coming from.Neck PainNeck pain in Austin is overwhelmingly load-related: screens, phones, instruments and driving. The evaluation separates local neck problems from those referring into the shoulder or arm.Knee PainThe knee is a hinge caught between the hip and the foot. Knee pain is often about how load arrives at the knee, not only about the knee itself.Shoulder PainShoulder pain requires separating three things: the shoulder itself, the shoulder blade and thoracic spine, and the neck. All three can produce shoulder symptoms.Hip PainWhere the hip hurts — groin, side or buttock — points toward very different problems. That distinction drives everything that follows.Arthritis & Joint StiffnessOsteoarthritis-related symptoms respond to movement, strength and load management far more than most people expect. Joint changes on imaging correlate poorly with how people actually feel.Sports InjuryAthletes need a plan that ends with returning to the activity, not with the absence of pain. That means loading, criteria and timelines — not indefinite rest.Muscle SpasmMuscle spasm is usually a response, not a cause. The productive question is what the muscle is responding to.Pinched Nerve"Pinched nerve" describes nerve irritation somewhere along its path. Where it is irritated — and whether there is a true neurologic deficit — is what the examination determines.Foot & Ankle PainFoot and ankle problems are load-tolerance problems more often than structural ones. Calf and foot capacity, and how much you added recently, explain most of them.Numbness & TinglingNumbness and tingling have many possible causes, some outside the scope of chiropractic care. Evaluation begins by determining which category your symptoms fall into.

Questions people ask first

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor in Austin?
No. Texas allows direct access to chiropractic care, so you can schedule an evaluation without a physician referral. If your examination suggests imaging or a medical opinion is the right next step, Dr. Schuch will tell you and help coordinate it.
What happens at a first visit?
The first visit is an evaluation, not a sales presentation. It covers your history, how the problem behaves through your day, an orthopedic and neurologic examination, and movement testing. You then get a plain-language explanation of what was found and whether the practice believes it can help.
How long before I notice a change?
It depends on the problem, how long it has been present and what else is going on in your life. Many recent, uncomplicated musculoskeletal problems change noticeably within a few weeks of consistent care, while long-standing or complex issues take longer. Dr. Schuch will set expectations and reassess rather than promise a fixed outcome.
What is laser therapy?
Laser therapy, also called photobiomodulation, uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light that interact with tissue. Austin Chiropractic Care uses more than one therapeutic laser system and selects the approach based on your evaluation. It is used as one part of a plan alongside chiropractic care and rehabilitation, not as a stand-alone cure.

Not sure what is causing your pain?

An evaluation is the starting point. Dr. Schuch examines what is happening, explains what he finds, and tells you honestly whether this is something the practice can help with.
