Tight, guarded muscle is usually a response to something else: a joint that is not moving well, a nerve that is irritated, a load your tissue was not ready for, or a position you hold for hours a day.
Where laser fits
Muscle spasm, muscle relaxation and temporary relief of minor muscle pain are among the common uses of therapeutic laser. For appropriate patients, that can make early movement more comfortable and reduce the protective guarding that keeps the cycle going.
Why it is not the whole answer
If the cause is unaddressed, tightness returns. That is why laser is used alongside joint work, targeted strength and changes to how you load or position the area.
What to expect
Sessions are short and feel like mild warmth. Some people notice a change the same day, others after several sessions, and some do not respond. Reassessment decides whether it continues.
